| New Year Party 2004 - a review . |
| Well what fun! For the second year running we held the party at St Joan of Arc R.C. School in Highbury, with over 150 people attending. Our thanks again to Peter Cassell, a long-time Governor of the school for hiring the premises at such a charitable rate. Thanks also to the school caretaker Pat for giving up a Saturday free of charge to make the party happen (he even donated the raffle prizes he won!). |
 |
We must also say thankyou to so many of you who stayed behind this year to help - it was very much appreciated, in particular thanks to Sarabjit Singh and Desmond Meldrum for their unfailing assistance.
|
| In between stepping in and out of the kitchen I noticed an increasing number of children with their faces painted with the most magical designs, a very young D.J. with an impressive moustache (Tania's young son, Sidney) who seemed to be enjoying himself immensley and the residents from our residential home, who looked to be enjoying the music. |
| It was great to see Tania, Richard, Gill and Jenny have an opportunity to put names to faces and I hope if you were there that you met some new and old friends and enjoyed yourselves. Some of you may also have met Gordon Boxall, Chief Executive of mcch and Munira Thobani the new Interim Director of London Operations based at autism london. |
 |
We would like to extend a massive thank-you to 'Help a London Child' and Unisys for sponsoring our party with presents and funds. We were also grateful to the entertainers, particularly Steve and Angela at Soundzgood for their good-hearted enjoyment of the whole day, Steve for his DJ talents and Angela for her wonderful face-painting and the entertainers who offered a show for the children and
attempted to distribute presents rather bravely in the face of a virtual stampede! |
 |
One moment I definitely appreciated was a turn by Michael Jackson (aka one of our talented guests) she (yes she!) had an amazing voice.
I noticed at this point everyone was on the dance floor and I thought - in one way - it was rather a shame to have to end the party at 4.00pm... |
If you did attend, you will shortly be receiving a brief questionnaire about how you found the day. Please take the time to complete it and return it to us as this will go towards helping us improve our event organisation and better understand your needs.
Until next time, may 2004 bring you every happiness!
